DITD Update - November 2022

Details about new changes to the Diving Into The Deep newsletter

As you might have noticed, I have not published much here. Since I started this newsletter/Substack earlier this year I’ve graduated from University and started a full time job. This has significantly reduced the amount of time I have that can be used for writing, so I’m making some changes that I want to share with you.

First, I plan to publish much more content that will be significantly shorter in length. When I started this newsletter, I deemed it possible to publish a few highly researched and polished deep dives per year that are 30 - 60 minutes (~6,000 - 15,000 words) in reading length. I still plan to publish these as I’m able to, but I now only expect to be able to release 1, sometimes 2, of these annually. To fill this content void and allow me to write and publish more frequently, I now plan to publish many smaller posts. Some of these will have distinct topics, whilst others will share a topic that eventually culminates into a deep dive.

Second, I want to build a community of like-minded curious individuals who also find the topics I’m writing about interesting. To aid with this, I’ve enabled Substack’s new chat feature. Those of you with the Substack app downloaded can participate in chat threads related to topics I post about. Additionally, I plan to release more update posts similar to this one to discuss the ongoing’s of the community. If the community starts to grow, I might also setup a Discord server or something similar if there is enough interest.
